Well....after 2 days on the road....we're here. Left Daytona Beach Saturday morning, spent the night at a KOA in Forsyth, Georgia .....and rolled into our new home about 1:00pm yesterday. Didn't plan on arriving quite so early, just forgot we were going back on central time!
The drive was great. Got to see some beautiful country ....especially around Chattanooga. I had no idea how scenic that was! It is set in a valley in the Smokey Mountains with the beautiful Tennessee river running through it. Our overnight in Forsyth was pretty uneventful (except we couldn't get the slide out....which Terry fixed when we got here). Stayed at a pretty KOA (as they always are)....set in the tall Georgia pine trees and next to a lake.
We got in early enough to enjoy the park a little. Sat around the pool for a while watching all the kids playing....walked around the park, stopping at a hanging swing and let Barklee whine over the ducks (while they totally ignored him)....then sat outside and enjoyed a couple beers and talked to all the passersby. The park sells their own (very inexpensive) pizzas which they deliver in a golf cart so we decided to skip the tuna casserole we'd planned. We were really glad we did....it was excellent!
Daytona Beach turned out okay. The last night we were there, we had an incredible sunset....
But again, Terry had a pretty tough time selling enough ads.....just barely reaching the minimum required. It's just such a difficult time right now. But the town was fun....we enjoyed a couple of nice evenings out and some walks on the beach. They were gearing up for the big race (on the 4th), so we were glad to be leaving.
The park here is decent and we have a great site (a pull-through in a corner and nicely shaded).
Went to the grocery store yesterday afternoon but haven't seen much of the area yet. The park owners are very nice....it's a family affair....they even have the kids working because we keep seeing a fairly young boy zipping around on a golf cart. It's a medium-sized park with lots of shade trees. We did receive the box of mail (M&D)....thanks again for sending it.
Heard from Jeremy last week. He has his flights booked and should be arriving in California on July 16th. Seems to be (VERY) ready to get back to civilization.
Hope all is well with you......as always, please keep in touch.
